A new privately-owned Iranian steelmaking plant, Bisoton Steel Complex, is to be built with a designed annual capacity of 400,000 mt of billets. Construction will be carried out in two phases, each with a capacity of 200,000 mt per year.
The new company is a sister company of West Jahan Steel, a rolling mill with an annual capacity of 500,000 mt. Both are located close to the city of Kermanshah in western Iran.
An investment of about $90 million will be spent on the project, which will use SLRN direct reducing technology. So far, infrastructures have been put in place and site preparation has been completed. According to the schedule, the first phase of the project is expected to come on stream by the middle or end of 2012.
