Iranian steelmaker Iran National Steel Industrial Group (INSIG) produced 107,000 mt of finished steel products (I-beam, rebar, pipe) and 23,500 mt of billet in the first month (March 21-April 20) of the current Iranian year, up one percent and eight percent respectively compared to the corresponding month of the previous Iranian year, according to the data provided by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).
Meanwhile, the group also intends to set up its second meltshop with an annual capacity of 400,000 metric tons, and to establish two new rolling mills, one with an annual capacity of 1 million metric tons to produce rebar and wire-rod, and another rolling mill with a capacity of 700,000 mt per year capable of producing I-beam. In addition, INSIG plans to renovate and ugrading its existing seamless tube mill and its oxygen plant. These approved projects, which are expected to cost a total of Rials 300 trillion (about $300 million) are yet to get underway.
INSIG, one of the oldest Iranian rolling mills, is located close to Ahwaz city near the Persian Gulf.
