India's core sector indicates increase in February

India's infrastructure sector rose 5.6 percent in February compared to 0.8 percent a year ago. In April-February 2005-2006 period, the six infrastructure industries recorded a growth rate of 4.5 percent compared to 5.8 percent in the same period of last year. India's coal production jumped 9.3 percent in February compared to 2.2 percent in February 2005. Coal production recorded an increase of 6.4 percent in April-February 2005-2006 period. The production of finished steel in February fell 1.1 percent year on year to 3.28 million metric tons. In April-February 2005-2006 period, finished steel production rose 5.3 percent year on year to 38.06 million metric tons.
