India’s coking coal imports up 2 percent in January-October 2018

According to India’s customs data, in the January-October 2018 period, India imported 42.99 million mt, up 2.4 percent compared to 42.00 million mt in the same period the previous year. October imports of 4.41 million mt were up 39.6 percent compared to 3.16 million mt the previous month but 1.1 percent down from the same month the previous year. Sources note that India has also increased coking coal imports from the US, although still limited compared to Australian imports.
