India’s CIL and SCCL up coal production in May

The Indian Ministry of Mines has announced that in May 2008 government-owned companies Coal India (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL) recorded a 7.44 percent increase year on year in coal production.

During the given period, the actual coal produced by CIL and SCCL combined was estimated at 33.33 million mt as against the annual action plan (AAP) target of 34.41 million mt.
 
The total coal production delivered by the companies in question to the power sector in May 2008 stood at 26.66 million mt.
