India's Finance Minister Mr. Palaniappan Chidambaram has announced an increase in the export duty for chrome ore from the current Rupees 2,000/mt ($49/mt) to Rupees 3,000/mt ($75/mt).
Mr. Chidambaram stated that the export duty for chrome ore has been increased to conserve chrome ore and also to make it available for value added production in India.
