India’s Directorate for Anti Dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD) has commenced antidumping (AD) investigations into imports of seamless tubes, pipes and hollow profiles of iron, alloys and non-alloy steel from China, an official in India’s Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday, July 16.
He said that the antidumping investigation was launched following the petitions filed by domestic manufacturers such as ISMT Limited and Maharashtra Seamless Limited, Jindal SAW and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (Bhel). The investigation covers the period between January, 2014 and December, 2014. However, cast iron and stainless steel pipes were not included in the current investigations, he added.
The domestic producers and petitioners are seeking retrospective imposition of antidumping duty claiming substantial injury to domestic producers by the high volume of imports of such products from China.
