On February 10, South Korean steelmaker Hyundai Steel announced that it will focus on expanding its production of high value-added steel bars in the current year.

Currently, Hyundai Steel's H-beam is mainly used in building construction. However, the company plans to focus on production of high value-added H-beam which will be applied in offshore petroleum projects and in the shipbuilding industry. Accordingly, high value-added H-beam products are expected to account for 30-40 percent of Hyundai Steel's total H-beam output this year.

Moreover, Hyundai Steel will continue to focus on developing production of high-strength rebar: Currently, the company produces SD400 rebar for buildings, but it is also planning to produce SD500 and SD600 rebar
