Hebei Province-based Chinese steel giant Hebei Iron and Steel Group has recently completed the delivery of 6,000 mt of steel products for several domestic nuclear power programs, including Sanmen Nuclear Power Station in Zhejiang Province as well as for nuclear power stations in Fuqing, Fujian Province and in Haiyang, Shandong Province. Thus, China will no longer be dependent on import materials for the high grade steel products required in nuclear power stations.

According to China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China plans to raise the share of nuclear power in domestic power supply generation to six percent by 2020. To achieve this target, China will have to build 10 new nuclear power units each year in the period in question.
