Guryevsk Metallurgical Works (GMZ), a subsidiary of Russian steel producer ESTAR Holding (ESTAR), has announced that it has completed capital repairs at its long product rolling mill 500/400, the costs for which amounted to Ruble 8 million (about $260,100).
This was the first time such a large-scale overhaul of the mill was carried out in the past five years, and it included the renovation and repair of the main components of the mill. In addition, GMZ has installed a movable stopper for the first time, allowing a higher precision of cutting, and this will enable the plant to receive around an additional 3,500 mt of precision-cut rolled steel products per year.
"The company has recently sharply increased its output - in the previous month, more than 30,500 mt of finished steel products were delivered to customers, which was the highest result in recent years. We look to invest all our extra income in the plant's production development and social programs," GMZ managing director Yuri Gushin said.
