Russian mining and steel group Mechel has announced that its subsidiary Izhstal, a specialty steel and stainless long products manufacturer, has completed the overhaul of its bar and wire rolling mill 250 as scheduled. The mill is a key facility for the plant since it produces approximately 45 percent of the plant’s total output.

As part of the repair works, the mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems of the mill were checked and revamped. In addition, special attention was paid to the walking-beam furnace and equipment that has a direct impact on the quality of finished products.

In 2017, the mill 250 produced 222,000 mt of rolled products, including construction, stainless, bearing and high-speed steels, registering an increase of 10 percent compared to 2016. The products were supplied to the automotive, aviation, engineering and defense industries.
