Spanish steelmaker and distributor, Gonvarri Group, is in the process of building a new steel service center in Puebla, central Mexico, on a site of 14,000 square meters and with a planned annual tonnage of 160,000 mts. According to the group, its move into Mexico is part of its international expansion strategy.

The new center, to be called Gonvauto Puebla and due to open in June 2007, will supply the Volkswagen plant in Puebla. It will be able to carry out slitting, cut-to-length and blanking processes by means of the installation of several coil-processing lines.

Gonvauto Puebla will be the first Gonvarri Group service center to be established in the North American Free Trade Agreement area. The group already operates service centers in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Poland, Germany, Slovakia and Brazil.
