Global new ship orders post strong rebound in July

As a result of the rebound in the shipping freight market, global shipbuilding companies have begun to post significant increases in new orders, pointing to a strong recovery in the global shipping vessel market. According to the data from UK-based Clarkson Research Services, newly-undertaken shipping vessel orders in July exceeded 6.3 million deadweight tons, 1.2 times the total for the first six months of 2009.

According to Clarkson, in July newly-undertaken shipping vessel orders worldwide totaled 58 vessels, amounting to 6.344 million deadweight tons, up 240 percent month on month.
