Germany-based auto industry supplier Wagon Automotive Nagold GmbH has inked a deal with Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH, a subsidiary of German steelmaker Salzgitter Group, to become more sustainable in its operations.
Accordingly, Salzgitter Flachstahl will supply Wagon Automotive with carbon-reduced steel produced under the SALCOS® program for future use during the manufacture of complex body shell modules.
Salzgitter aims to switch to completely carbon-free production from 2033 onwards. The company will replace the blast furnace method with the direct reduction and electric arc furnace method.
