Fire erupts at ArcelorMittal Burns Harbor plant

On Tuesday afternoon, firefighters responded to a fire in a coal bunker at ArcelorMittal's coke battery operation at its Burns Harbor, Indiana steelmaking facility. According to news reports on the incident, ArcelorMittal's in-house fire department called for outside assistance, and then called for additional firefighters a short time later.

Within about two hours, the fire was extinguished, and ArcelorMittal is still evaluating the damage to the coke battery and potential impact on operations.
