Brazil exported 7,230 mt of heavy plates in August against 30,800mt in July, according to SISCOMEX.
The decline reflects no exports to the US in August, when there were import tax uncertainties, compared to 17,700 mt in July.
The exports of August were destined to South American countries (7,182 mt at $901/mt) and Trinidad and Tobago (49 mt at $668/mt), shipped by Usiminas (7,027/mt at $906/mt), ArcelorMittal (154 mt at $658/mt), and Gerdau (48 mt at $668/mt), FOB conditions.
Meanwhile Brazil imported 940 mt of heavy plates in August against 4,900 mt in July.
The origins of the imports were China (508 mt at $569/mt), Europe (327 mt at $1,538/mt), and Hong Kong (105 mt at $635/mt).
