Nizhny Tagil Iron and Steel Works (NTMK), a subsidiary of the Russian steel producer Evraz Group, has introduced new steelmaking technology which allows it to decrease production costs.
Accordingly, for the production of 17G2MF grade steel, designed for the production of continuous cast semis, NTMK is using a new scheme for deoxidation and alloying.

The savings made due to the introduction of the new steelmaking technology from the end of February to the end of March amounted to about Ruble 7.5 million (about $255,720).

NTMK's semis of 17G2MF grade steel are shipped to Evraz's Czech-based subsidiary Evraz Vitkovice Steel for the production of rolled steel products.
