Russia-based steelmaking and mining giant Evraz has stated that it will keep its plate mill in Italy idle for the next 12 months due to deteriorating market conditions.

Work at Evraz Palini e Bertoli SpA, a unit of the Russian group, was suspended in August 2013 due to uncertainties in Italy's steel industry, the second-largest in Europe, which was hit by a drop in demand and environmental investigations.

Evraz Palini e Bertoli is a plate rolling mill located in San Giorgio di Nogaro in the Italian province of Udine. It produces customised, high-quality plate products for the construction, shipbuilding, energy and automotive industries.
