Russian mining and steelmaking company Evraz, one of the largest global producers of vanadium products, has announced the operational results for 2019.

In the given period, Evraz’s total vanadium slag output amounted to 18.380 million mt, up 7.8 percent year on year. This was a result of higher vanadium content in pig iron produced by company and due to higher frequency of pig iron duplex processing over the past year.

In 2019, Evraz’s vanadium final products sales rose by 4.3 percent year on year to 12.883 million mt, mostly amid the increased demand for ferrovanadium in the EU and Asia.

In the third quarter of 2019, Evraz sold its wholly-owned US-based asset Evraz Stratcor to US company U.S. Vanadium in order to focus on the Russian vanadium business. Evraz now has two vanadium facilities - Evraz Vanady Tula, the largest European producer of vanadium pentoxide, and Evraz Nikom, a Czech-based producer of ferrovanadium.
