European Union warns China about restriction on coking coal exports

The European Union (EU) warned China that it should revoke restriction on exports of coking coal. China restricted exports of coking coal to protect its steel industry. However, EU officials assert that the restriction on exports of coking coal may give rise to a trade dispute between EU and China unless the latter takes into account the warning of EU. It is reported that, this will be the first dispute between EU and China since the latter's entry in World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2001. In line with the statement released by EU, China has broken trade law by restricting exports of coking coal, a significant raw material, which led global steel shortage and rise in the prices.
