Euro area annual inflation down to 1.4% in March from February level

Annual inflation in the euro area was 1.4 percent in March this year, down from 1.5 percent in February, according to a report released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In March 2018, the annual inflation rate was 1.4 percent.

Meanwhile, in the European Union (EU-28) annual inflation was 1.6 percent in March, stable compared to February. In March 2018, the annual inflation rate in the EU-28 was 1.6 percent.

The lowest inflation rates in March this year were observed in Portugal (0.8%) and Greece (1.0%), whereas the highest annual rates were recorded in Romania (4.2%), Hungary (3.8%), and the Netherlands (2.9%). Compared with February, in March annual inflation fell in six member states, remained stable in two and rose in 19.
