The European Commission (EC) has announced that it has decided to initiate an expiry investigation regarding the antidumping measures on imports of iron or steel ropes and cables from Russia.

The investigation was started by request lodged on June 29, 2012 by the Liaison Committee of EU Wire Rope Industries (EWRIS) on behalf of EU producers representing more than 50 percent of domestic production of certain iron or steel ropes and cables, based on the grounds that the expiry of the measures would be likely to result in continuation of dumping and recurrence of injury to the domestic industry.

The EC stated that the investigation will be completed within 15 months following the date of the initiation notice of the expiry investigation.

The products covered by the proceeding currently fall within CN codes ex 7312 10 81, ex 7312 10 83, ex 7312 10 85, ex 7312 10 89 and ex 7312 10 98.
