The latest figures issued by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) show that in the January-November period of the current year new car registrations totaled 10,945,360 units in the European Union (EU), with a decrease of 2.7 percent from the same period of 2012. In November this year, EU new car registrations increased by 1.2 percent year on year to 938,021 units, but were down by 6.66 percent compared to October.
In November, only two major markets posted year-on-year growth, with Spain up 15.1 percent and the UK indicating an increase of seven percent. In given month, new car registrations decreased in Italy (-4.5 percent), France (-4.0 percent) and Germany (-2.0 percent), year on year.
In the first 11 months of this year, the UK (+9.9 percent) and Spain (+2.1 percent) were the only two major markets to record increases compared to the same period of the previous year. Decreases were witnessed in the other major markets, ranging from -7.7 percent in Italy to -7.1 percent in France and -4.9 percent in Germany.
