According to a statement released on September 22 by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, the new industrial orders index in the European Union member states (EU-27) fell by 0.8 percent month on month in July, after a revised month-on-month decrease of also 0.8 percent recorded in June. The year-on-year increase in July was recorded at 6.8 percent in the region.
On the other hand, in July new industrial orders in the EU-27, excluding ships, railway and aerospace equipment for which changes tend to be more volatile, increased by 0.9 percent month on month and rose by 7.5 percent year on year.
In the EU-27 in the given month, new orders fell by 5.8 percent for capital goods, rose by 1.3 percent for durable consumer goods and by 1.1 percent for intermediate goods, all compared to June.
On month-on-month basis, among the member states for which data are available, total new industrial orders fell in 11 member states and rose in 11 others. The largest decreases were registered in France with 11.2 percent, in Finland with 10.3 percent and in Slovakia and Denmark both with 7.5 percent, while the highest increases were seen in Sweden with 5.8 percent, in Romania with 3.6 percent and in Lithuania and Estonia both with 2.6 percent
