According to the European steel association EUROFER, in October this year EU-27 flat steel exports totaled 1.377 million mt, down one percent, while long steel exports amounted to 1.059 million mt, up 18.58 percent, both compared to September. Accordingly, overall EU-27 steel exports in October totaled 2.435 million mt, up 6.6 percent month on month and up two percent year on year.
In October, ex-EU long steel exports increased sharply month on month, exceeding the 1 million mt level for the fourth month this year following three months in a row below 900,000 mt. In the given month, the long steel product export volume almost reached the peaks recorded in May and June this year.
In the last two months covered by EUROFER figures, the y-o-y steel exports growth rate slowed down from the double digits recorded in August. Year-to-date, the growth rate is almost equal at 7 percent both for long and flat products.
