EU-27 industrial producer prices up 0.2 percent in July

Industrial producer prices in the European Union member states (EU-27) rose by 0.2 percent month on month in July, according to Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In June, the revised month-on-month increase was 0.3 percent in the region.
 
As compared with July 2009, industrial producer prices in July this year in the EU-27 increased by 4.4 percent.
 
In July, prices in overall industry excluding the energy sector improved by 0.1 percent month on month and were up 2.2 percent year on year, while prices in the energy sector increased by 0.2 percent month on month and were up 10 percent year on year. Prices for durable consumer goods increased by 0.3 percent over June this year and were up by 1.3 percent compared to July 2009.
 
On month-on-month basis, the highest increases in the overall index were recorded in Bulgaria at 2.3 percent, in Cyprus at 1.8 percent and in Denmark and the Netherlands both at 0.9 percent, while the highest decrease rates were registered in Greece by 1.2 percent, in Hungary by 0.6 percent, in Spain and Lithuania by 0.2 percent, finally in Italy and Slovenia both by 0.1 percent.
