Employment in Turkish basic metal sector up slightly in Q1

According to data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in the first quarter of the current year the index of industrial employment in Turkey increased slightly by 0.3 percent year on year, while it rose by 3.7 percent over the fourth quarter of 2012.

Meanwhile, in the first quarter this year the employment index of the Turkish basic metal industry increased by 0.9 percent year on year and was down 0.9 percent compared to the previous quarter. Employment in manufacture of fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment in the first quarter this year was up by 3.7 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2012 and decreased slightly by 0.2 percent from the previous quarter.
