Turkey’s basic metals turnover index up six percent in April

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK), Turkey's monthly industrial turnover index in April this year increased by 4.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and was down one percent month on month, following the 13.2 percent month-on-month increase recorded in March.

In April, the industrial turnover index for the manufacture of basic metals in Turkey increased by six percent year on year and registered a 0.6 percent fall from the previous month, after a rise of 7.6 percent in March compared to February. In April, the industrial turnover index for fabricated metal product manufacturing, except machinery and equipment, increased 6.8 percent year on year and fell slightly by 0.2 percent from the previous month, following a 13.9 percent increase in March compared to February.

The turnover of the domestic sales of Turkish basic metals manufacturing increased by 4.9 percent in April, while foreign sales were down by 10.5 percent, month on month. In the month in question, a 7.3 percent month-on-month increase was recorded in the domestic sales turnover in manufacture of fabricated metal products, with foreign sales decreasing by 15.1 percent, compared to the previous month.
