Turkey’s basic metals turnover index up 6.3% in May over Apr

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK), Turkey's monthly industrial turnover index in May this year increased by 5.3 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and was up 5.8 percent month on month, following the one percent month-on-month decrease recorded in April.

In May, the industrial turnover index for the manufacture of basic metals in Turkey decreased by 1.3 percent year on year and registered a 6.3 percent rise from the previous month, after a fall of 0.6 percent in April compared to March. In May, the industrial turnover index for fabricated metal product manufacturing, except machinery and equipment, increased 6.1 percent year on year and rose by 4.8 percent from the previous month, following a 0.2 percent decrease in April compared to March.

The turnover of the domestic sales of Turkish basic metals manufacturing increased by 6.9 percent in May, while foreign sales were up by 5.1 percent, both month on month. In the month in question, a 6.4 percent month-on-month increase was recorded in the domestic sales turnover in manufacture of fabricated metal products, with foreign sales increasing by 3.3 percent, compared to the previous month.
