DSP signs a deal with DPL for coal conversion project

Indian steel producer Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP), a subsidiary of Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), has signed an agreement with Durgapur Projects Ltd (DPL) to participate in the project regarding conversion of coking coal into blast-furnace grade metallurgical coke. According to the deal, DSP will supply 25'000-30'000 tons of coking coal per month in the proportion of 65% hard and 35% soft as of October to DPL's plant to be converted into metallurgical coal. DPL will supply the metallurgical coal to SAIL's plants. Through the deal, DSP will meet its metallurgical coke requirement.
