Mexican steelmaker Deacero plans to invest $100 million this year to expand local finished steel output, a media report from Vanguardia said.

The steelmaker, which has mills in Saltillo and Ramos Arizpe, expects to start up a mill that will produce a “thinner” finished steel product, sometime in the second half of this year.

The company did not provide further comments on the mill’s location or expected output per year. However, Deacero will reportedly hire 500 new workers for the proposed mill.
