Italian plantmaker Danieli has announced that it has signed a contract with Pakistan-based steel producer Agha Steel Industries for a melt shop enhancement project. The project includes the complete reconstruction of the electric arc furnace (EAF) and a new fume treatment plant.

The targets of the project are the reduction of the electrical consumption and tap-to-tap time, in order to increase productivity at a lower production cost. The project will also ensure that Agha Steel Industries utilizes the largest steel manufacturing furnace in Pakistan to make quality grade rebars for the upcoming growth in steel demand to be witnessed from projects relating to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
