CSN Mineração, the iron ore arm of local steelmaker Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN), has declared force majeure this week, following a nationwide strike by truck drivers, which resulted in lack of fuel and delayed shipments.

CSN said it will not be able to deliver the commodity to clients, and because of the force majeure, CSN argued it did not breach the contract it had with its consumers.

CSN said the nationwide strike, which has lasted over a week, has limited iron ore output and affected the delivery of the commodity, mainly at its Casa de Pedra iron ore mine.
