Brazilian steelmaker Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN) is expected to resume operations at its No. 3 blast furnace by the end of the week, a media report by Reuters said.
The equipment was supposed to resume on August 28, but the company postponed its restart for October 28 due to delays while repairing the equipment. The media report said the blast furnace should have a 3.3 million mt/year capacity as it resumes.
CSN forecasted repairs to cost between BRL 200 million ($49.2 million). Due to the blast furnace maintenance, CSN bought third party slab, the details of which not disclosed by the company.
CSN will also post Q3 results this week. Analysts expect Brazilian steelmakers to post weaker quarterly results.
