Coal exports from Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS) terminals based at Port of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, totaled 9.4 million mt in June this year, increasing by 4.6 percent compared to May, according to the company's announcement. 14 percent of the total coal handled at the terminals in June was coking coal.
According to the the released information, Japan was the largest export destination for coal shipments from PWCS in June this year, with shipments to Japan accounting for 51.18 percent of total shipments, while coal exports to China made up 9.58 percent of the total.
PWCS accounts for one third of Austrlia's exports of coal, which is the country's second most important export commodity in terms of value.
