South Africa-based coal producer Coal of Africa (CoAL) has announced that its estimated coal reserves and resources at the Greater Soutpansberg project, located in Limpopo, South Africa have increased from 1.5 billion mt to 8 billion mt.

The resource increase came after the acquisition of coal assets in Soutpansberg coalfield from Australia's Rio Tinto and Johannesburg-based Kwezi Mining, which was completed in May.

Coal of Africa stated that it is well positioned to achieve its goal of creating a world-class coking coal business producing in excess of 10 million mt per year of saleable coking coal over the next 10 years.
