Chongqing to eliminate 1.7 million mt of coal capacity in 2019

The State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Chongqing has announced that Chongqing will eliminate 1.7 million mt of annual coal capacity in 2019, namely, three coal mines - the Liyuanba coal mine of Hengyu Mining Co. Ltd, the Xioayutuo coal mine of Hengyu Mining, and the second Yanjin mine of Tianhong Mining Co., Ltd, with respective annual capacities of 550,000 mt, 600,000 mt and 550,000 mt.

In the 2016-2017 period, Chongqing shut down 354 coal mines, eliminating 23.48 million mt of coal capacity. In 2018, Chongqing shut down five coal mines, thus eliminating a further 2.0 million mt of coal capacity.
