Chinese manufacturing PMI declines at slower rate in July

On August 1, China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP) issued the purchasing managers index (PMI) of the Chinese manufacturing sector for July, indicating a PMI of 50.1 percent, down 0.1 percentage point compared with June. Although the Chinese manufacturing PMI has hit its lowest level of the last eight months, the decrease margin has shrunk.

In July, the output index and new order index of the Chinese manufacturing sector both decreased. In the given month, the output index stood at 51.8 percent, down 0.2 percentage points month on month, falling to the lowest level since December 2011. In the given month, the new order index for Chinese manufacturing sector was 49 percent, down 0.2 percentage points month on month.
