China’s PMI drops to 50.4 percent in May

According to the latest data issued by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP), in May this year the purchasing managers index (PMI) of the domestic manufacturing sector in China declined to 50.4 percent, down 2.9 percentage points compared to the previous month.
 
As regards the PMI sub-indexes, in the month in question the production index was at 52.9 percent, 4.3 percentage points lower than the previous month, the new order index came to 49.8 percent, down 4.7 percentage points month on month, the raw material inventory index was at 45.1 percent, a decrease of 3.4 percentage points from April this year, while the supplier delivery time index decreased to 49 percent, falling by 0.6 percentage points from the previous month.
