Chinese crude steel output totals 58.70 million mt in August

China’s crude steel output in August this year totaled 58.70 million mt, down 4.84 percent month on month and decreasing by 1.7 percent year on year, according to the data published by the National Bureau of Statistics of China. In particular, the National Bureau of Statistics stated that average daily crude steel production in China in August amounted to 1.89 million mt, down 96,400 mt from July. China’s crude steel output in the January-August period totaled 481.57 million mt, down 2.3 percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, China’s pig iron output in August totaled 53.74 million mt, down
0.5 percent year on year, while output in January-August amounted to 445.60 million mt, up 2.6 percent year on year. Chinese finished steel product output in August totaled 78.81 million mt, increasing by 1.4 percent, while finished steeloutput in China in the first eight months amounted to 627.70 million mt, up 5.7 percent, both year on year.
