As of September 14, China’s coal composite price index stood at 169.9, down 0.9 points compared to the previous week, according to the statistics released by China Coal Transportation and Sale Society.
In the week ending September 14, thermal coal prices at ports in the Bohai Economic Rim region, i.e., Qinhuangdao, Jingtang, Caofeidian and Tianjin, indicated an increase of RMB 5-10/mt ($0.59-1.58/mt) week on week, while high quality thermal coal prices increased by RMB 20-50/mt ($3.16-5.9/mt) in some regions of Inner Mongolia. However, in Jining, Zaozhuang and Zibo in Shandong Province the prices of high quality thermal coal dropped by RMB 20-50/mt ($3.16-5.9/mt), while the prices of low and medium-quality thermal coal in Anhui witnessed a decrease of RMB 40-90/mt ($6.32-14.2/mt), both week on week.
Meanwhile, prices of coking coal also declined in the given week amid low market demand, down RMB 40-100/mt ($6.32-15.8/mt) on week-on-week basis.
