China’s steel plate imports down 13.7 percent in October

In October this year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate, and steel pipes and hollow sections amounted to 80,000 mt, 20,000 mt, 800,000 mt, and 30,000 mt, up 6.9 percent, down 18.1 percent, down 13.7 percent, and decreasing by 17.8 percent, respectively, year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities. In the January-October period of the current year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, steel plate, and steel pipes and hollow sections amounted to 890,000 mt, 310,000 mt, 9 million mt, and 310,000 mt, decreasing by 11.7 percent, 13.7 percent, 11 percent and 23.0 percent, respectively, year on year.

In October this year, China imported 950,000 mt of finished steel, down 12.6 percent year on year, while the finished steel import volume in the January-October period of the current year totaled 10.68 million mt, down 11.7 percent year on year, as previously announced by Chinese customs.
