Hebei Province-based Xingtai Iron & Steel Corp. (Xingtai Steel), China's leading high-quality special steel wire and bar producer and a special steel supplier for the automotive and other industries, has started stainless and special steel production at its new secondary steel works in Xingtai, Hebei.

Xingtai Steel had ordered the new steelmaking facilities including a four-strand continuous billet caster from Austria-based plantmaker Siemens VAI Metals Technologies in July this year.

The newly-commissioned steelmaking facilities of Xingtai Steel also comprise a 50 mt argon oxygen decarburization (AOD) converter and a 50 mt ladle furnace, along with basic and process automation.

According to the statement, the four-strand continuous caster is planned to cast around 200,000 mt of stainless and 150,000 mt special steel per year. It can produce both rectangular and round billets.
