China exported 7.54 million mt of finished steel in April this year, up 11.5 percent month on month, while it exported 25.87 million mt of finished steel in the January-April period of the year, rising by 29.5 percent year on year, according to data issued by the Chinese customs authorities on May 8.
In April, China imported 1.30 million mt of finished steel, increasing by 4 percent month on month, while its finished steel imports in the January-April period amounted to 4.90 million mt, up nine percent year on year.
Furthermore, China imported 83.39 million mt of iron ore in April, rising by 12.75 percent month on month, while it imported 305.34 million mt of iron ore in the first four months, up 20.7 percent on year-on-year basis. In April this year, China exported 0.47 million mt of metallurgical coke, down 27.69 percent month on month, while it exported 2.41 million mt of coke in the first four months of the year, increasing by 333.4 percent year on year.
