China’s finished steel exports up 27 percent in Q1

China exported 6.76 million mt of finished steel in March this year, up 28.03 percent, while it exported 18.33 million mt of finished steel in the whole of the first quarter, rising by 27 percent, both year on year, according to data issued by the Chinese customs authorities on April 10.

In March, China imported 1.25 million mt of finished steel, increasing by 1.63 percent, while its finished steel imports in the January-March period amounted to 3.59 million mt, up 11.3 percent, both year on year.

China imported 73.96 million mt of iron ore in March, rising by 14.58 percent, and 222.01 million mt of iron ore in the first three months of the year, up 19.4 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In March this year, China exported 0.65 million mt of metallurgical coke, up 18.18 percent month on month and rising by 530.5 percent year on year, while it exported 1.94 million mt of coke in the first quarter, increasing by 615.6 percent year on year.
