China's crude steel production in September totaled 50.71 million mt, up 11.32 million mt or 28.7 percent year on year, and down 1.62 million mt or 3.09 percent compared to August. Average daily production during the month reached 1.69 million mt, up by 2,400 mt or 0.14 percent month on month, again marking a new high in history. Meanwhile, crude steel production for the January-September period reached 420.40 million mt, up 29.37 million mt or 7.5 percent year on year.
Taking imports and exports into consideration, the newly-added supply of crude steel to China's market in September totaled 50.15 million mt, up 12.68 million mt or 33.84 percent year on year. From January to September, the newly-added supply reached 418.07 million mt, up 68.6 million mt or 19.63 percent year on year.
In the month of September, China's exports of crude steel accounted for 4.87 percent of total national crude steel production; meanwhile, crude steel exports in the first nine months of this year constituted 3.86 percent of total domestic production.
China's pig iron production in September totaled 47.92 million mt, up 10.40 million mt or 27.7 percent year on year. At the same time, total pig iron production in the January-September period reached 406.31 million mt, up 40.56 million mt or 11.1 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2008.
China's finished steel production for September totaled 61.16 million mt, up 14.67 million mt or 31.6 percent year on year. On the other hand, national finished steel production from January to September inclusive reached 501.80 million mt, up 55.50 million mt or 12.4 percent year on year.
