In the January-June period this year, China’s outputs of pig iron, crude steel and finished steel amounted to 451.56 million mt, 535.64 million mt and 676.55 million mt, increasing by 2.7 percent, 1.3 percent and 4.4 percent, respectively, year on year, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on July 17.
In June alone, China’s outputs of pig iron, crude steel and finished steel totaled 76.98 million mt, 91.11 million mt and 120.08 million mt, remaining stable, up 0.4 percent and up 5.4 percent year on year, while down 0.03 percent, up 1.1 percent and up 1.36 percent, respectively, month on month.
In June, the average steel prices indicated an uptrend first, while seeing a downward correction in mid-June, before rebounding again late in the month.
