According to the data issued by the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), in early August (August 1-10) the average daily output of crude steel of the association's member enterprises was 1.63 million mt, up 1.24 percent compared with late July (July 21-31). In addition, the CISA estimates that in the first 10 days of August China's overall average daily crude steel production reached 1.94 million mt, rising slightly by 0.35 percent from late July.

On the whole, in August so far steel production in China has been running at the same rate as in July, except that production in some regions has been restricted by electricity rationing measures of the government, while some production lines are also undergoing overhauls.
