China’s auto output up 4.1 percent in H1

According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), during the first half of this year automobile output and sales in China reached 9,529,200 units and 9,598,100 units respectively, up 4.1 percent and 2.9 percent year on year.

In June alone, Chinese auto output came to 1,531,300 units, down 2.4 percent compared to the previous month but up 9.1 percent compared to the same month of 2011. In particular, output of passenger vehicles in China in June totaled 1,258,800 units and 1.28 million units, down 0.8 percent month on month and up 12.2 percent compared to June 2011, while the output of commercial vehicles was 272,500 units, 9.1 percent lower than the previous month and down 3.3 percent year on year.
 
China's automobile sales in June this year amounted to 1,577,500 units, decreasing 1.66 percent compared to the previous month and up 9.86 percent compared to the same month of last year. Among the main vehicle categories, passenger car sales amounted to 1,284,200 units, rising 0.24 percent compared to May and up 15.77 percents year on year, while sales of commercial vehicles rose to 293,300 units, down by 9.2 percent month on month and falling by 10.22 percent compared to June 2011.
