China to spend RMB 4.7 trillion on transport infrastructure in 2016-18

China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has announced in its three-year action plan for construction on major transport infrastructure that China plans to invest RMB 4.7 trillion ($0.72 trillion) in the 2016-18 period in transportation infrastructure, including railways, roads, airports, waterways and urban rail transit systems.

In particular, railways and urban rail transit systems will account for respective investment totals of RMB 2 trillion ($0.31 trillion) and RMB 1.6 trillion ($0.25 trillion).
